writing & books

Although I am an illustrator and visual artist by trade, training and passion, I write, too.

Books

Como Não Morrer de Fome em Portugal (How Not to Starve in Portugal) in 2016, a fictionalised memoir all about a fictionalised ME, published by Objectiva, an imprint of PRH Portugal.

Eat Portugal, in 2011, which I wrote with my pal, Célia Pedroso… you can read all about that at eatportugal.net, now in its 7th edition, in English, French, Spanish and German… so far.

The Village is my latest, published by me, a graphic novel written during the first lockdown (lockdown hardly figures in it)

Friedrich, also published by me, a graphic novel with few words, about a homicidal mouse.

O Livro das Receitas Nojentas, which I wrote and illustrated in 2006 (lorks), full of disgusting recipes with which children might horrify their families, sadly now out of print.

Other things

I was part of the script team for Eurovision 2018 the year it took place in Lisbon. I am now a dedicated fan of Eurovision, because that’s the law for anyone who ever did Eurovision.

As of February 2022, I have a radio show, Antídoto, with Catarina Carvalho (Mensagem) and Dora Santos Silva, on Antena 1, in which I try to sound intelligent in Portuguese.

I’m currently writing another book NOT ABOUT PORTUGUESE FOOD and three film and TV scripts (ok, the scripts are all in my head, but I WILL write them…).
